Give It Up! Say No to Pharisaical Following

The great thing about outward religion is that it is out where I can see it, judge it, and compare others to myself (always to make myself look and feel better, of course.) Jesus had something else in mind, something inward yet no less real.  And as we are going to see in our sermon tomorrow, it all begins with mercy towards real human beings.

Prayer: Jesus, I’ve tried being really religious, but I keep failing.  So would you teach me more about mercy?
