Paragraphs 41-54 The Mission of God's People (June 23-)

Paragraph 42 (Today)
In a world estranged from God,
where happiness and peace are offered in many names
and millions face confusing choices, we witness—
with respect for followers of other ways—
to the only one in whose name salvation is found:
Jesus Christ.
In Jesus, God reconciles the world to himself.
God loves all creation;
his compassion knows no bounds.

[On the exclusive claims of Christ, see John 14:6 and Acts 4:12; on God’s love and compassion for the world, see Matthew 9:36-38 and John 3:16.]

This is a crucial paragraph in the section on our mission, for it grounds us firmly on Jesus, it places his mission as our mission, and it sends us forward in love and compassion. There is no one else through whom God has ever said he would reconcile all things to himself!

But just as incredible is that that is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Saviour, is our High Priest, our brother, and our friend. We have been invited into relationship with the most amazing person to ever walk this earth. This is what we have, and what we have to share with a needy world.

Our song for today is "For God So Loved" by We The Kingdom. Thank you, Jesus!

"Lord, Jesus, Son of God, Saviour, we love you. We love you because you loved us first, you emptied yourself and became like us in our weakness, you took on the role of a servant, and you died for us.  Through you, our Father pours out his love for his creation. Through us, other people will hear about your love for them."

What do you have to thank Jesus for today? Take a moment and do so now!
