Matthew 21:21b-22 – “Even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done. Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.”

That is an amazing promise.  Do we believe it? Jesus said it; should we doubt it? Explain it away? The context was cursing fig trees; pretty sure that our Christian calling is not to curse fig trees. But Jesus did say “whatever.” Lord, increase our faith. It turns out this is not the only place that Jesus said something like this about God surely giving us what we ask for.  Some of us were discussing this the other day, not knowing that one in our group really needed healing. So instead of doubting Jesus’ words, we all circled around this person and prayed for complete healing. In faith. And promised to keep praying until we get the answer we are asking for.

Today we are praying for every person on page 1 of our church directory.  May I suggest you take this to the next logical step and do this every day.  As you pray, ask what is the mountain-sized prayer request for each person you are praying for?

So we pray,
Father, make your name holy in our prayers. As for us, we need so much. Yes our faith is weak. So we pray, We believe; help our unbelief! But we take you at your word, that you will answer our prayers. For our part, we will ask in such faith that we have, in your will as we are able, with perseverance. Lord, hear our prayers!
